Halle-Ammendorf depot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ammendorf depot of Halleschen Verkehrs-AG ( HAVAG ) was located in the south of Halle (Saale) on Merseburger Straße. It was put into operation in 1902 with the Halle – Bad Dürrenberg overland railway. Part of the depot was a wagon hall with ten entrance tracks as a storage and workshop hall with several workshop pits . The depot also included a social building with a dispatcher and several outbuildings. The depot was shut down in 1997 when the new Rosengarten depot went into operation. Since then there has been no use and the facilities fell into disrepair. The demolition of the depot began in February 2018. In May 2019, branches of the supermarket chain Rewe and the drugstore chain Rossmann were opened on the completely cleared site .
