Operational security service

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The operational security service was an organizational structure within the Deutsche Bundespost and was responsible for operational security.

In particular, it should prevent operating facilities from being damaged or sabotaged or the mail (letters, parcels, etc.) being stolen by employees or by strangers. Official members of the operational security service were auxiliary officers of the public prosecutor's office in most federal states (e.g. North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg).

The officials added the addition "in the operational security service" to their official title (e.g. postal secretary in the operational security service).

The operational security service was dissolved with the privatization, but corresponding departments with these tasks continue to exist in the successor companies; however, their employees are no longer auxiliary officers.
