Bettina von Arnim Society

The Bettina-von-Arnim-Gesellschaft was founded in 1985 in the vicinity of the Bettina-von-Arnim-Oberschule (today: Bettina-von-Arnim-Schule) as a literary name society and school association. It has around 230 members worldwide.

As a literary name society, it pursues the goal of promoting knowledge and understanding of the life and work of Bettina von Arnim (1785–1859) and her time. In addition, the International Yearbook of the Bettina von Arnim Society (since 1987) and the Bettina von Arnim Studies are published by Saint Albin Verlag in Berlin . The yearbook sees itself as a forum for romantic and pre-March research . In addition, the company organizes guided tours and excursions in Berlin and Germany, readings and small theater performances on relevant topics. But it also supports conferences and symposia ideally and occasionally materially. In addition, every three years it awards the - undoped - Bettina von Arnim Research Prize in the form of a specially created medal for contributions to the dissemination of knowledge about Bettina von Arnim.

As a school association, it supports the work of the secondary school of the same name (comprehensive school) in the Märkisches Viertel in Berlin-Reinickendorf.

The company is not the same as in 1941 by the NS - functionary Ilse Hamel established ethnic Bettina von Arnim Society .
