Bev Harris

Bev Harris (* 1951 ) is the founder and chairwoman of the American Black Box Voting Inc. , an initiative against voting machines .

She gained notoriety in 2002 when she discovered that Charles Hagel , one of Nebraska Senators , was a major shareholder in ES&S , a voting machine manufacturer. ES&S voting machines are used in much of Nebraska.

In 2003 she found the source code of Diebold's voting machines on an unprotected website and passed it on to security experts who were able to uncover such serious defects in this software. This was shown in the 2006 documentary Hacking Democracy .
