The Association of Magdeburg Ball Game Clubs (VMBV) was a local football association for the city of Magdeburg and the surrounding area. The VMBV was founded on March 15, 1900 and joined the German Football Association on July 4, 1900 . After the "Magdeburg Football and Cricket Association" and the Ring Magdeburg Football Associations , both of which failed miserably, this was the third attempt to establish football in Magdeburg.
In the 1900/01 season, the first championship was held in two divisions. Five teams including two reserve teams played in 1st class. Initially, seven teams, including five reserves, took part in the second class. The game should be played in four series, i.e. four games against each other team. Due to the severe winter, only one series was held. The first Magdeburg champion was the Magdeburg FuCC Viktoria 1897 , in the following years only the Magdeburg FC Viktoria 1896 succeeded .
Since the VMBV organized its championships itself and not within the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs (VMBV), the Magdeburg master was able to take part directly in the final round of the German championship in the seasons 1902/03 - 1904/05.
At the beginning of 1903 there were violent disputes in the VMBV. This escalated and led to the resignation of the Magdeburg FuCC Viktoria 1897 and SC Germania 1898 Magdeburg associations in February. Both clubs founded a new association, the Magdeburger Sport-Vereinigung , on the same day , but rejoined the Magdeburg Ballspiel- Vereinigung at the end of April 1903. The causes were reported in the contemporary sports press as follows:
“For a long time there has been something new to report from our old Elbe festival - but also very sad. SC Germania and Cricket Victoria left our association unanimously. One always has to wonder about our dear German unity. The former club withdraws because its place was no longer considered suitable for association games. The place, a so-called coke place, has a fairly wide and deep channel on one long side. It would have been easy for the club to eliminate this evil, but they didn't do it and insisted on the compliance of the association - and our association has always been the embodied Koulanz itself to defiant heads. People who overturn their own applications 14 days later because of the payment of a thaler fine, just to avoid paying the fine, and who submit counter-motions that the other places should also be disqualified because they were measured with the - - - spirit level ( !!) also show unevenness, yes, such people just lack the absolutely necessary understanding of our football sport. Anyone who thinks should be aware of this that such petty club daunting must be put on hold in the interest of the bigger cause.
The cricketers have done the same, and of course they too are right. The club has always not done too much for the association and thus for the football thing - it waited pretty much until the establishment and the associated work was completed, entered after about a year and always suffered from the imagination that it would go through its appearance the association had only become a useful institute. He occasionally withdrew his teams from games because he had been wronged, and Such. More. His departure is due to the last dispute with Victoria (96). One now plays the moral, although one has no reason to. Yes, it looks very cloudy here.
The portions with the distribution of the sports sense are a bit small for Magdeburg. The association will now want to preserve its authority and disqualify the sinners, so we are gradually returning to the original state. Long live change! "
It was not until 1905 that the Magdeburg Ball Game Associations became part of the VMBV.
