The Beveridge Reef ( English Beveridge Reef ) is a largely flooded, ring-shaped coral reef , also called an atoll . It is located in the exclusive economic zone of Niue . It is located 225 km southeast of Niue and west of the Cook Islands in the Pacific Ocean .
A small part of the reef is only visible at low tide , the largest of which is already visible in shallow water. The reef is one of the reasons fishing boats get stuck or drift away. For this reason, a license is required for commercial fishing.
With the exception of a 100 meter wide opening, the reef rim is closed. The lagoon is up to 12 meters deep.
