Movement for National Reform

The Movement for National Reform ( Arabic حركة الإصلاح الوطني, DMG ḥarakat al-iṣlāḥ al-waṭanī , French Mouvement pour la réforme nationale , or Islah for short ) is a moderate Islamic party in Algeria . It is led by Djahid Younsi . Its general secretary has been Djamel Benabdeslam since 2010 .

The party founded by Abdellah Jaballah in 1999 split off from the Algerian Nahda movement because they criticized the party's cooperation with the government. She is strictly against the change in the current family law , which has disadvantaged women since 1984.

In the 2004 presidential election, the National Reform Movement came third with 5% of the vote. In the parliamentary elections of 2007 the party got 3 seats in the Algerian parliament , while in the elections in 2002 it got over 9.5% of the vote and won 43 seats.
