Classic International Cruises was a British-Australian shipping company specializing in the marketing of classic cruise ships .

history

Classic International Cruises was founded in 1985 as Arcalia Shipping Company Ltd founded. The Funchal was the first ship to be bought and put into service. This ship remained the only one until 1994 and it was only with the purchase of the Princess Danae , which was built in 1955, that Classic International Cruises took another ship into service. The new ship had a completely white paintwork and the sailing ship logo on the chimney. The Funchal was also painted white, but in contrast had a yellow-blue stripe along the outer shell. It was not until 2000 that it was finally painted with a blue stripe and the logo on the chimney.

Since 2000, another three ships have been bought by Classic International Cruises, the Arion , the Athena and the Princess Daphne , which is almost identical to the Princess Danae .

At the end of 2012, Princess Danae , Princess Daphne , Athena and Arion were arrested for pending pecuniary claims. Only the Funchal was spared from arrest, as she was in dry dock at that time in order to be converted to comply with the latest SOLAS regulations. In December 2012 the insolvent shipping company was dissolved and the ships were sold to new operators.

Classic International Cruises' main office was in Neutral Bay, Australia . There were also six sales offices in Europe: Paris ( France ), Piraeus ( Greece ), Lisbon ( Portugal ), Sollentuna ( Sweden ) and London ( England ).
