The ship was designed by Harland & Wolff as a cargo ship in Belfast built and ran in 1954 under the name of Port Melbourne for the British shipping company Portline from the stack . It entered service in 1955 and sailed with its sister ship Port Sydney (later in service as the cruise ship Princess Daphne ) in the liner service from Great Britain to Australia and New Zealand . The ship had accommodations for twelve passengers who could travel in eight single and two double cabins. In 1972 the Port Melbourne was sold to the Greek Chion Shipping Company and renamed Therisos Express .
As a cruise ship
In 1974 the Therisos Express was converted into a cruise ship together with her sister ship at Chalkis Shipyard in Greece. After the work was completed, the ship was sold to the Akrotiki Express Shipping Co. and renamed Danae . She was used by the shipping company under this name for cruises in the Mediterranean until 1992. In the next two years she was sold several times and went under the names Anar , Starlight Princess and Baltica .
In 1994 the now 39-year-old ship was bought by the British-Australian shipping company Classic International Cruises, which specialized in the use of classic cruise ships. The Baltica was renamed Princess Danae and used for cruises across Europe. In September 2012, however, the shipping company filed for bankruptcy. The Princess Danae was arrested in Lisbon and offered for sale. In March 2013, the ship was bought by the newly founded shipping company Portuscale Cruises and renamed Lisboa . The ship was first in Lisbon launched and should for renovations for cruises in the Mediterranean and in the North and Baltic Sea are used. The Lisboa was one of the oldest cruise ships in the world at the time. In January 2015, the ship was sold to Aliağa for scrapping and left the port in early July 2015
