Bhutan Broadcasting Service ( Dzongkha : འབྲུག་ རྒྱང་བསྒྲགས་ ལས་ འཛིན , Wylie transcription : 'brug rgyang bsgrags las' dzin; short: BBS) is a broadcaster in Bhutan . BBS and BBS 2 are the only two television programs that can be received in Bhutan. It also maintains the only radio station . A special feature of the TV channel is that the programs are broadcast both in Dzongkha and in English . Most of the time it is broadcast in English after the broadcast on Dzongkha.
history
The broadcasting company was founded in 1973 for the Bhutanese radio station NYAB. In 1986 the radio station was renamed the Bhutan Broadcasting Service . TV programs have only been broadcast on BBS since 1999, following a decade-long ban on satellite dishes .; the second TV channel called BBS 2 has been on the air since 2012. It was also announced that it will be possible to broadcast even more TV channels in the near future. A live stream has also been offered since the beginning of 2012 , first for BBS and the associated radio station, and since April also for BBS 2.
