The Bavarian BiL Bay 92 was a through car for local rail traffic . They were listed in the car register of the Royal Bavarian State Railways (K.Bay.Sts.B.) from 1913 under sheet no. 495, in the directory of 1897 under sheet no. 298.
development
With the growing network of local railways, there was a need for suitable wagons for local passenger transport and excursion traffic. Between 1888 and 1890 wagons were procured that already had the characteristics of normal passenger wagons for mainline railways. They were not suitable for military transport.
procurement
In the period between 1891 and 1906 a total of 572 wagons of the classes BL , BCL , CL , BPostL , BCPL and PL were procured. These all had a uniform floor plan, open end platforms with folding doors on the ascents, foldable local train ascents and personnel transfers only secured by brackets. The type “BL” car according to sheet no. 495 was procured in 1892.
Whereabouts
The whereabouts of the car has not been clarified. It can be assumed that like the wagons according to sheet 497, it was retired by 1940.
Constructive features
Underframe
The frame of the car was made entirely of profile iron and riveted. The outer side rails were U-shaped with outward flanges. The cross members were also made of U-profiles and not cranked. As a towing device, the wagons had screw couplings according to VDEV . The drawbar was spring-loaded throughout and in the middle. The car had slotted basket buffers with an installation length of 650 millimeters as a shock device, the buffer plates had a diameter of 370 millimeters.
drive
The wagons had riveted half-timbered axle brackets of the union type. The axles were stored in sliding axle bearings. The seven springs had a length of 1,540 mm. The cross-section was 76 x 136 mm. The wheels had Speichenradkörper the Bavarian form 37. Due to the long wheelbase of 5,000 mm were steering axles of type A 4 used.
In addition to a hand spindle brake, which was on one of the platforms at the end of the car, the car also had suction air brakes from the Hardy system .
Car body
The frame of the car body was made of wooden studs. This was clad with sheet metal on the outside and wood on the inside. The joints between the sheets were covered by cover strips. The roof was flatly rounded, protruding over the side walls and was drawn out over the open end platforms. The car had appearances in the design of the folding local railway appearances.
Furnishing
The car type was only in 2nd class and had a total of 32 padded seats. There was no abortion. A total of 12 standing places were designated for the two end platforms.
The lighting was done by kerosene lamps. The heating took place via steam. The wagons were ventilated by static roof ventilators and retractable windows.
