Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem
The Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem (BLMJ) is a museum that illustrates the culture of all the peoples mentioned in the Bible , such as the Philistines , Aramaeans , Hittites , Elamites , Phoenicians and Persians . It opened in 1992.
The BLMJ focuses on historical and archaeological aspects, not religion. The aim is to bring the regions in which the Bible was written into a historical context. The geographical area covered ranges from Egypt to Nubia and from Afghanistan to the Caucasus . The time frame is stretched from the beginning of human civilization to early Christianity . In addition to the permanent exhibition, special shows take place regularly.
The building is close to the Israel Museum . It was founded by the antique dealer Elie Borowski , who brought in his important private collection. The architect of the building was Ze'ev Schoenberg.
