from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bibliotheca Masonica August Belz was bequeathed by its founder August Belz , factory owner in Rorschach, in his will after his death in 1971 to the Masonic lodge " Humanitas in Libertate , St.Gallen" for administration and further support. In 2007 it comprised around 15,000 titles or around 20,000 volumes. 4236 of these are from the original collection. In the meantime, around 5,000 titles have been donated, the rest have been bought. In December 1972, one year after the donor's death, his library was established as a foundation under the name "Bibliotheca Masonica August Belz". A custody agreement with the Cantonal Library of St. Gallen enables proper preservation, expansion and procurement.
