August Belz

August Belz (born November 1, 1907 ; † December 27, 1971 ) was a Swiss manufacturer in the city of Rorschach , a Freemason and the founder of a library .

Life

Belz was the head of a razor blade factory, owner of the Belras AG sales office in Zurich for HELVETIA razor blades and the inventor and manufacturer of the sapor dry soap dispenser .

In 1940 he was accepted into the Masonic lodge In Labore Virtus in Zurich . In 1960 he joined the Humanitas Lodge in Libertate in St. Gallen . His search and striving for truth prompted him to build a library during and after the Second World War . Starting with Freemasonry as a focus, he collected various related subjects.

Foundation, endowment

A year after his death, his library was set up as a foundation under the name Bibliotheca Masonica August Belz . A custody agreement with the Cantonal Library of St. Gallen enables the library to be made accessible to the public.
