The University of Sydney Library is the largest library in the Southern Hemisphere , with a collection of more than 5.1 million volumes . The library consists of 20 individual libraries, which are spread over 9 different parts of the campus. The main building, the Fisher Library , is named after the Australian entrepreneur and patron Thomas Fisher .

The collection includes rare works such as two exact copies of the Gospel of Barnabas and a first edition of Sir Isaac Newton's Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica .

Fisher Library

The Fisher Library , located on Eastern Avenue on the Darlington / Camperdown campus of Sydney University and adjacent to Victoria Park , is the main building. It actually consists of two merged library buildings that were built separately for financial reasons in the initial phase of the library:

The Fisher Undergraduate Library (Building F03) houses duplicate copies of texts that students often use to prepare for exams.

The Fisher Research Library (Building F04) is a usable library magazine with a larger and older collection. The rest of the building is used by the Department of Psychology. The Fishery Café is also located in the basement , but cannot be entered via the main entrance or from the library itself.

Other branch libraries

The remaining libraries at the University of Sydney are mostly affiliated with different departments and faculties. Although these libraries have specialized their collections, they can be used without restrictions.
