Bicycles
Bicyclics , also known as bicyclic compounds , are a large group of compounds in organic chemistry that contain two linked rings.
Classification
A distinction is made between the following types - depending on how the rings are linked:
- fused connections (both rings contain a common bond)
- Spiro compounds (both rings contain a common atom)
- bridged connections (both rings are linked by two non-adjacent atoms)
