NGC 3455 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 46 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 3454 , it forms the galaxy pair Holm 221 or KPG 257 .

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3443 , NGC 3457 , NGC 3461 , IC 656 .

The object was discovered on March 21, 1784 by William Herschel .
