NGC 3466 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBab and the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 435 million light years from the Milky Way and about 130,000 light years in diameter. It probably forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair with PGC 213759 .
The galaxies NGC 3444 , NGC 3467 , NGC 3476 , NGC 3477 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on January 18, 1828 by John Herschel .
