A Biedermeier hat is a hat shape that was in fashion in Germany during the Biedermeier period in the first half of the 19th century and was mainly, but not exclusively, worn by young men (often students ).

It was characterized by a long, sometimes asymmetrical shade and a more or less small head part that tapered slightly towards the top. While the head section sat slightly at the back of the head, the extra-long umbrella protected most of the head.

Students of the Biedermeier period used this hat shape as a student hat to show the colors of their student union . Sometimes the Biedermeier hat is still worn today at some connections.
