Extension tunnel (draft)

The Biedersteiner Tunnel is a 300 meter long road tunnel north of the Kleinhesseloher See in Schwabing . The Isarring (a section of the Middle Ring ) runs through it from the crossing of the English Garden with a bend to the north to the underpass on Ungererstraße .

The Biedersteiner Tunnel has two lanes in each direction of travel in separate tubes and was completed in 1966.

As part of the planned reunification of the English Garden , the tunnel will be expanded by 928 meters to the southeast from 2023.

The name comes from the Biederstein Castle , which stood at this point, was partly demolished in 1934 and completely bombed in 1944.
