Bieketurm

The Bieketurm is a three- story defense tower in Attendorn , which was part of the former city fortifications. It dates back to the 13th century and, besides the powder tower, is the only remaining part of the Attendorn city fortifications. The remaining gates, towers and walls were demolished after the city fire of 1812 and used as building material for the reconstruction of the inner city.

In the 17th century the tower was used as a prison, later it was used to store ice. In 1949 the tower became a Catholic youth home. The tower has been available to the Attendorn shooting club since 1985, which has also owned the building since April 21, 2004. The tower has been used as an armory and rifle museum since 1993 . King's chains , cutting and thrusting weapons, armor and flags can be viewed on Saturday mornings from May to October. In 2019 it was freed from ivy and comprehensively renovated for around 150,000 euros.
