Bielstein cliff (Wernigerode)

The Bielsteinklippe is a rock formation in the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt , which is also known by sport climbers as the Silberwand .

The cliff, which is approved for climbing, is located on the Bielstein mountain northwest of the Hasserode district of the city of Wernigerode . Below the cliff, the Bielsteinchaussee leads to the Steinerne Renne .

The name may refer to the alleged Germanic god Biel , but whose actual historical veneration is controversial.
