Bierspünderstrasse
The Bierspünderstraße is a street of Lübeck .
location
The approximately 60 meter long Bierspünderstraße is located in the north-western part of the old town island, in the Marien-Magdalenen quarter . It forms the cross connection between Ellerbrook and Böttcherstraße .
history
Together with Neue Querstraße , Bierspünderstraße is one of only two streets in Lübeck's old town that were completely rebuilt after the Second World War without a predecessor. By the bombing in 1942 , the historic building between Ellerbrook and Böttcherstrasse were largely destroyed. During the reconstruction in the late 1950s , the dense block development was not restored. A previously non-existent road was laid through the now open area, which was given the name Bierspünderstraße in 1960 .
The name is supposed to tie in with the beer run that had existed since the 14th century , which had the house number Ellerbrook 6 (front building was no. 10) and which was unique in Lübeck because of its unusual U-shaped course. The Bierspündergang was destroyed in 1942; the newly laid road takes up part of its former area.
The New Apostolic Church in Lübeck is on the north side of the street .
