Big Brother (software)
Big Brother is software from Dell for monitoring computer programs , network services and computers , for which support and further development ended in 2014.
The software is named after the character Big Brother (German: Großer Bruder) from the novel 1984 by George Orwell .
With the Big Brother software it is e.g. B. possible to monitor network services such as a web server or an SSH server and to graphically display the current status and older monitoring results.
The software was mostly used in data centers to monitor a large number of computers.
The company Quest developed the commercial version to the acquisition by Dell in 2012. Since version 5.01 from February 2013 was not a new version released. and Windows Server 2012 is not officially supported either. The last version offered for download is 4.60.
With Xymon there is a compatible open source software with similar functionality.
