Biggleswade Castle

Biggleswade Castle is an abandoned castle in the town of Biggleswade in the English county of Bedfordshire .

The existence of this castle was discovered in 1954 on aerial photographs showing the remains of a moth with a double moat and a courtyard with a single moat.

Excavations were carried out there in 1962 and 1968. Remnants of wooden buildings and earthenware were discovered .

Today only vegetation features and light earthworks are recognizable. The site is a Scheduled Monument .
