Bijelo dugme ( German White Button ) was a Yugoslav rock band from Sarajevo , Bosnia and Herzegovina . The band leader and guitarist was Goran Bregović . Bijelo dugme was generally considered to be the most popular band in socialist Yugoslavia .
history
Bijelo dugme was officially founded in 1974, although the members of the standard line-up, guitarist Goran Bregović, singer Željko Bebek, drummer Ipe Ivandić , keyboardist Vlado Pravdić and bass guitarist Zoran Redžić, were already active under the name Jutro.
The band's debut album, Kad bi bio bijelo dugme, released in 1974, brought them nationwide popularity with their Balkan folk-influenced hard rock sound. The band's future releases, with a similar sound, retained their great popularity, dubbed "Dugmemania" by the media, and the band's work, particularly their symphonic ballads with poetic lyrics, also received much critical acclaim.
In the early 1980s, when the Yugoslav new wave scene emerged, the band moved towards the new wave but continued to be one of the most popular bands in the country. After Bebek left the band in 1983, the band was accompanied by singer Mladen Vojičić "Tifa", with whom the band only recorded one album of their own name. Alen Islamović, the band's last singer, joined the band in 1986, and with him Bijelo dugme recorded two more albums. With the growing tension in Yugoslavia, the band broke up in 1989.
The group Bijelo dugme had a much-noticed revival in 2005. Three concerts took place in the capitals of Bosnia and Herzegovina ( Sarajevo - June 15, 2005), Croatia ( Zagreb - June 22, 2005) and Serbia ( Belgrade - June 28 2005), gathered most of the band's former members, including the three former singers. The Koševo stadium in Sarajevo were 65,000 fans, according to the Zagreb Maksimir were over 70,000 fans. The final concert in the Belgrade "Hipodrom" saw 250,000 people.
The group's big hits include "Doživjeti stotu", "Đurđevdan", "Ima neka tajna veza", "Tako ti je mala moja kad ljubi Bosanac", "Lipe cvatu", "Hajdemo u planine", "Ako ima Boga" , "Sanjao sam noćas da te nemam", "Nakon svih ovih godina", "Ružica si bila", "Ćiribiribela", "Selma", "Padaju zvijezde" and many more.
