Jewelry quadrille

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The jewelery quadrille is a quadrille by Johann Strauss Sohn (op.169). It was first performed on June 4, 1855 in Ungers Casino in Vienna.

Remarks

This quadrille was written for a ball arranged by the composer himself in Ungers Casino and premiered there on June 4, 1855. The following day the work in the Wiener Volksgarten was repeated. It was very well received and remained in the Strauss Orchestra's repertoire for a long time. The name goes back to an exhibition of jewelery manufacturers in Vienna at that time.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 5 minutes and 9 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
