Image pair

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In photogrammetry, an image pair is a pair of measurement images that partially overlap. If there are several control points on this coverage area of the earth's surface or the recorded structure , the spatial position of all visible image points can be determined. This is how terrain models and most topographic maps are created.

The recordings can be satellite or aerial images , but also terrestrial images. With suitable image geometry, they allow a stereoscopic view of the terrain or object. The images are measured in special optical-mechanical or digital evaluation devices
