Billinghay is a place in District North Kesteven the English county of Lincolnshire . The place is about 11 km northeast of Sleaford .

history

The settlement is mentioned in the Domesday Book . In 1986 Ballon (Sarthe) became the town's partner municipality.

In 2001 the population was 1808. The local Lafford High School was closed in 2008 due to low student numbers, so there is only one elementary school.

Culture and sights

St Michael and All Angels in Billinghay

St Michael and All Angels Church has its origins in the Middle Ages and is therefore on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest . It is used by an Anglican community.

Church tower and spire were rebuilt in 1787. The north aisle was renewed in 1856. In 1912 the spire was replaced. Inside there are arcades with four pointed arches. The northern row of arches has octagonal pillars. The southern arc series has quatrefoil -Pfeiler. In the sanctuary there is a small piscina with a keel arch. In the east there is a colored window glass from 1888.
