In the Billings Farm is an agricultural model farm and a corresponding open-air museum near Woodstock in the US - state of Vermont .

The businessman, lawyer and early conservationist Frederick Billings founded this farm, which specializes in dairy farming , as early as 1871. In its restored condition, it illustrates everyday life at the turn of the 20th century particularly well.

Daily demonstrations give an insight into animal husbandry back then . Butter is still made in the basement of the 1890 farmhouse . An exhibition on two more floors of rural life in Vermont at that time rounds off the picture, as does the regular screening of the Oscar- nominated documentary about nature conservation in conjunction with agriculture called A place in the land.
