Biluthu is a 1,609.6 meter high sand mountain in Badain Jaran , a desert landscape in Inner Mongolia and the fourth largest desert in the world. With a relative height of 430 meters, it is the highest mega- dune in Central Asia and one of the highest stationary dunes on earth.
To the west of the dune is Lake Yinderitu ( location , 1170 m , 0.98 km², salinity 251.6 g / l, pH value 9.9), north of the Huhejaran Lake ( location , 1170 m , 1.03 km²) and southeast of the Bilutu Lake ( location , 1170 m , 0.39 km²). The largest lake in the region, the Nuoertu Lake ( location , 1170 m , 1.75 km², maximum depth 15.6 m) is located around 8 km south of the aforementioned lakes and the greatest distance to Biluthu . The heights of the surrounding lakes and the absolute height of the mountain result in a relative height of a maximum of almost 440 meters, less than the 520 meters sometimes mentioned in the literature.
