Binayak Sen (born January 4, 1950 ) is an Indian doctor (pediatric) and human rights activist .

Sen is Vice President of the People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL). He advocates medical care for poor people and the rights of minorities.

Sen has been detained since May 14, 2007. He is accused of having ties to Maoist rebels. Sen denies this. In May 2008, 22 Nobel Prize winners wrote a letter to the President and Prime Minister of India. In it, they demand that Sen should be allowed to travel to the United States to receive the Jonathan Mann Award for Global Health and Human Rights on May 29 . On the anniversary of the imprisonment there were demonstrations around the world to release Sens.
