Binnette Lipper

Binnette Lipper (born April 1, 1939 - March 2, 2016 ) was an American composer and music teacher.

Binnette Lipper studied music at Hunter College and the Juilliard School of Music and took private lessons from Ludmila Ulehla , Ron Herder and Meyer Kupferman . She taught piano and composition for several years at the Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale and is a member of the board of directors of the Hoff-Barthelson Music School . She has acted as a judge on several occasions at the composition competition of the Music Teachers National Association , the Aaron Copland Competition for young composers, the Arlene Kaplan Competition and the Junior Composers Contest of the National Federation of Music .

As a composer, Lipper stood out primarily in the field of piano and chamber music. Her works were u. a. listed in the United States, Canada, Bulgaria, Armenia, and Russia. A CD with chamber music compositions was released in 2000 under the title Horizon . Lipper was u. a. honored with a grant from the American Music Center , three ASCAPlus Awards, and four grants from Meet the Composer . She was a member of the New York Women Composers and the International Alliance for Women in Music and was concertmaster of the New York music group Aviva Players .
