The HK Binokor Tashkent ( Russian ХК Бинокор Ташкент ) is an ice hockey team from the Uzbek capital Tashkent .

history

Soviet era

The club was founded in 1971 as Spartak Tashkent and initially played in the third highest Soviet league - the Class A , later Vtoraya League  - which the team won in 1976 and was promoted. As early as 1974 the association was renamed Binokor Tashkent . After relegation from the Pervaya League in the 1983/84 season , the team immediately managed to get promoted again. After two seasons, the club rose again in the 1986/87 season after only three wins and 33 defeats. Binokor took part in one season in the game operation of the third highest division before the club was dissolved in 1988.

Re-establishment

The club was re-established in 2012 to participate in the new Uzbek ice hockey league. However, the league ceased operations after two game days in January 2013.

In October 2013 Binokor took part in an international tournament in Shymkent . The team finished third behind two Kazakh amateur teams and ahead of the Kyrgyz champions Alatoo-Dordoi Naryn .

In 2019 the league was revived. Binokor finished the main round as second of four teams. In the play-off final they lost to Semurg Tashkent over five games in a best-of-five round. Some of the games took place in the newly built Humo Arena with a capacity of 12,500. Binokor announced the application for the Russian-international KHL , but instead the competitor Humo Tashkent will play in the Vysschaya Hockey League (WHL) from 2019 and probably in the KHL from 2022.
