The Birch Head Warping is an extensive natural monument and a geotope in the area of ​​the city of Stuttgart .

Characteristics

The natural monument was designated by ordinance of June 24, 2003 under the name of geological exploration "Birkenkopfverwerfung" . It is under the name Aufschluss am E-foot of the artificial. Heaped rubble mountain Birkenkopf also registered as a geotope.

Location and description

The natural monument is located on the eastern slope of the Birkenkopf in Stuttgart-West . The fault is a vertical shift in the geological layers of marl and parlor sandstone . The fault was cut in the late 1930s during road construction work on what is now Landesstraße 1187. The geological monument has a masonry viewing window and has lighting on demand.
