Birth of the Empires (BotE for short) is a turn-based global strategy game that was started as a hobby project and was originally intended as the successor to Birth of the Federation . Over time, however, a completely different universe developed, which invites you to new voyages of discovery. The game principle has essentially not changed as a result.

The project has existed since January 2004. At this point in time, the initiator and chief developer “Sir Pustekuchen” started work. The BotE website was launched in 2006.

Game content

The game starts in an unknown galaxy, full of life, full of star systems that want to be discovered and colonized. In the course of the game you will explore a galaxy map with inhabited and uninhabited planetary systems and sectors, found colonies, expand them, prepare for the first contact with a foreign species, engage in diplomacy and, last but not least, get the war machine going, if you either has warlike intentions or wants to defend himself against them.

This primarily requires ships that you research and build in the course of the game, upgrade to the latest technology and with which you can defeat the opponent in open combat. Here it is recommended - as with building expansion in the planetary systems - first of all to come up with a good strategy and to study the advantages and disadvantages of the individual ship classes such as destroyers, attack cruisers, research ships, battle cruisers and the camouflaged ships of the Rotharian Star Association.

Only a balanced strategy will ultimately ensure survival, and even with all the joy of ship combat, it should be remembered that the real battles are through diplomacy and intelligence. Only those who, in one way or another, can permanently control the many small peoples who inhabit the galaxy and openly or covertly pursue their own intentions and goals will have a chance in the battle of the great powers for supremacy in the galaxy!

Six different victory conditions, which can be activated individually, complete the enjoyment of the game. In addition to conquest, ship battles, secret service, research or diplomacy successes, the ultimate goal of total domination of the galaxy beckons.
