History of the institution
The house was founded in 1956 as the Episcopal Study Seminar St. Altmann in the old hospital with the Holy Spirit Church by the Passau Bishop Simon Konrad Landersdorfer OSB in order to attract more boys from the diocesan Oberland to the profession of priest. On July 1st, 55 seminarians moved into Sankt Altmann at the beginning of the 1956/57 school year. The seminar accommodated up to 120 students in its prime (1967/68), over 500 seminarians were in the seminar over the 34 years. At the end of the 1989/1990 school year, the seminar was closed due to the falling number of students.
