The Bismarck Column in Tauberbischofsheim is a 9 m high column of fire with a plaque of honor in the area of ​​the Tauberbischofsheim district of Dittigheim . It goes back to an initiative of the Academic Holiday Association Tuberania .

history

With an appeal in the Badische Tauberzeitung on October 19, 1899, a Bismarck column was to be erected on the Höhberg property following the patriotic movement and “trusting the all-round, self-sacrificing support of all nationally-minded men in the local area” . 200 marks came together, which was topped up by government councilor Karl Groß, one of the old masters of Tuberania. At the foundation festival of Tuberania from October 3rd to 4th, 1903, the Bismarckian column was inaugurated at the end of the festival.

The top of the granite monument has a fire bowl attached to an iron frame. Two stone slabs with inscriptions are attached to the monument: BISMARCK on the north side and AFV / TUBERANIA / 1903 on the south-west side . A plaque of honor with the inscription EHRENTAFEL DER / AFV TUBERANIA / IHR LEBEN VICTIMS / IN THE GREAT WAR / 1914–1918 and the names of those who fell was attached to the northwest side .
