Yantai bishopric
The diocese of Yantai (Latin: Dioecesis Ientaevensis ), located in the People's Republic of China , was founded on February 22, 1894 as the Apostolic Vicariate of Scian-Ton Orientale, but changed its name to the Apostolic Vicariate of Chefoo on December 3, 1924. April 1946 under the name Yentai was raised to the diocese .
The diocese belonging to the ecclesiastical province of Jinan had only 2,072 Catholics in 1950, which was 0.1% of the population in this region. With 16 diocesan priests already well developed, it also had 5 religious priests and 33 religious sisters. It was a mission area of the Franciscans (OFM) , which also provided the Apostolic Vicars and Bishops; there were only two.
Due to the political situation, the diocese could no longer be occupied until today.
