BitchX is a popular free IRC client. The original implementation was a script for ircII . Colten Edwards then rewrote BitchX as a stand-alone program. BitchX is written in C and designed as a console application , it works under most Unix- like operating systems.
BitchX supports both IPv6 and SSL and can connect to multiple servers at the same time. One shortcoming is the lack of UTF-8 support.
