ircII is a free and open source IRC client for Unix written in C. Its first version dates back to the late 1980s, the early days of the IRC ; thus it is the oldest still actively developed IRC client. The latest version supports IPv6 , UTF-8 and CAST 128 encryption , but only has a pure text interface . Several clients like BitchX , EPIC and ScrollZ are based on the original ircII.
