Francis International Airport is an indie pop band from Vienna , Austria, founded in 2004 . The band name is taken from the video game Grand Theft Auto III from Rockstar Games . In 2012 the band was nominated for the FM4 Award, which is presented as part of the Amadeus Austrian Music Award .

history

Markus and David Zahradnicek founded Francis International Airport together with Manu Kaminski and Andreas Ottosson in October 2004. A few months later, Science Fiction Love Novel was the first EP that was recorded together with Markus Galli in his studio in Augsburg . Concerts in Austria and Germany followed.

In the spring of 2006, Christian Hölzel joined the band as the second guitarist and the recordings for the debut album We Are Jealous. We Are Glass. started in their own studio in Hohenberg . Shortly before its completion, the Viennese indie label Siluh Records signed the band and released the album in May 2008.

In early 2010, recordings began for the second studio album In the Woods , which was released in the fall of that year. The single Monsters / Feet of Clay was released in May 2010. With the release of the album and the video for Monsters, Francis International Airport gained attention across Europe and subsequently played successfully in clubs and festivals for over a year.

The third album Cache was released in May 2013.
