The Bitrufjörður is a fjord in northwest Iceland on the east side of the Westfjords .
It is located in the Húnaflói north of the Hrútafjörður . It is 4 kilometers wide and extends 9.5 kilometers into the country. The isthmus to Gilsfjörður on the west side of the Westfjords is just as far . The Innstrandavegur
circles the fjord. From 1995 to 2009 this was still part of the Djúpvegur
. There are no towns in the fjord, just a few farms.
