In 2018, the company generated sales of 740 million euros. Bitzer SE has 65 locations worldwide and employed around 3500 people in 2018.
history
Martin Bitzer founded the company in 1934 as "Apparatebau für Kältetechnik". Expansion valves and two-cylinder direct-current piston compressors were initially produced . By 1959 Martin Bitzer expanded his company to 206 employees and exported his products to 56 countries. In 1961, Ulrich Schaufler took over "Bitzer Kühlmaschinenbau GmbH", which he headed until his death in 1979. He was succeeded by his son Peter Schaufler . At that time the company had 270 employees and achieved a turnover of 30 million DM.
In the following years Peter Schaufler founded over 40 subsidiaries , including production sites in Germany , Portugal , the People's Republic of China , Australia , South Africa and the USA . Bitzer got involved with various investments in various companies and took over the Danish control device manufacturer Bitzer Electronics a / s (formerly Lodam) in 2007 and the leading European manufacturer of refrigeration valves, Armaturenwerk Altenburg GmbH (AWA) in 2013.
In September 2008 the company changed its name from Bitzer Kühlmaschinenbau GmbH & Co. Holding KG to Bitzer SE ( Societas Europaea ). With the death of CEO Peter Schaufler in August 2015, there were also changes at the management level. The company is headed by Rainer Große-Kracht as Chief Technology Officer, Frank Hartmann as Chief Financial Officer, Gianbattista Parlanti as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer and Christian Wehrle as Chief Operations Officer.
Products
The company manufactures reciprocating compressors , screw compressors , scroll compressors , heat exchangers , pressure vessels and condensing units for refrigeration and air conditioning.
