The Biwako Quasi National Park ( Japanese 琵琶湖 国 定 公園 , Biwako kokutei kōen ) is a quasi national park in Japan . The park, founded on July 24, 1950, covers an area of 976.72 km² and extends over the prefectures of Shiga and Kyoto . With the IUCN Category V, the park area is classified as a Protected Landscape / Protected Marine Area . The Shiga and Kyoto prefectures are responsible for the management of the park.
