Bjorn Holk

Björn Holk (* 1981 in Essen ) is a German wrestler . Among other things, he was three times German middleweight champion and competed in world and European championships.

Career

Björn Holk began wrestling in 1986 at TV Essen-Dellwig. It was there that his two brothers Jens and Nils, who are also successful wrestlers, started wrestling. Shortly after the start of the sport, he was already successful in national and international tournaments. In 1995 Björn became German champion in the youth field for the first time. At 16, he took part in international championships and immediately came third in the Cadet World Championship. After three more DM titles and two top ten placements at the Junior World Championships, he moved to the senior division.

At the age of 21 Björn reached second place there and a year later he secured his first title in the men's division, which he was then able to defend twice. He celebrated his most successful year in 2005. He won the Thor Masters in Denmark, was third at the German Grand Prix and then won second place at the Universiade in Izmir.

In addition to his career as a competitive athlete, Björn studied at the Technical University of Dortmund , where he earned his degree in industrial engineering.

Bundesliga

Björn Holk started with AC Köln Mülheim and TV Essen Dellwig twice in the second division before moving to KSV Witten 07 in the first division in 2001. After four years in Witten, he switched to KSK Konkordia Neuss, which he represented for six years. In 2011 Björn moved to KSV Köllerbach, with whom he became German Vice Team Champion. After another stint at TUS Adelhausen, Björn has been wrestling again for his hometown club TV Essen Dellwig since 2013.
