Brass section

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A wind section is either the arrangement of the parts for wind instruments in a musical composition or the harmony of the wind parts in a score . It is assumed that in addition to the wind instruments, other instruments such as string instruments or a rhythm section are also playing . In the jargon of music publishers, one often speaks of the "harmony voices" when the wind section is meant together with the percussion instruments (without strings).

The greater volume of the brass compared to the woodwind must be taken into account in the wind section . In popular music, concise figures and compositional techniques (narrow, mixed register, unison ) often determine the music genre .
