Black Sea Naval Cooperation Task Group

The Black Sea Naval Cooperation Task Group (BLACKSEAFOR) was established in April 2001. Turkey was the initiator of this cooperation and for the first time planned the first meeting in Bulgaria. Ensuring security in the Black Sea , rescue and recovery operations, but also humanitarian operations and the fight against terrorism are among their main tasks. 

In August 2007, Turkey took command of the task group from Russia at the Turkish naval base in Gölcük near Istanbul . In April 2010, Bulgaria took the chair for this year's exercise.

The Black Sea bordering countries Bulgaria , Georgia , Romania , Russia , Turkey and Ukraine belong to the Blackseafor Group .
