The Blackburn B-2 was a two-seat trainer aircraft . Like its predecessors in the successful Bluebird series, the model was a double-decker with a rigid landing gear and an in- line engine , but with an all-metal hull in a shell construction. A characteristic feature were the two seats next to each other for the trainer and the student pilot.
The model's first flight was on December 10, 1931, and from 1932 the model was supposed to assert itself against the Tiger Moth from de Havilland . Different engines should move the project forward. Ultimately, however, only the competitor benefited from the boom in flight training in the 1930s.
