history

In 1994 the idea arose to work through German-American history in Fulda and to exhibit corresponding exhibits. In 1995 the museum was officially established.

Subject of the exhibition

The approximately 400 square meter museum presents the history of friendship and US troops in the Fulda region. For the sake of clarity, the presentation of the exhibition was divided into themed rooms, which are under the following categories:

  • Constabulary and 14th Cavalry
  • Army green 11th ACR
  • Fulda-GAP - 11th ACR
  • Fulda High, scouts, motor pool
  • 40 years of DAFKS KONTAKT Fulda
  • USAREUR and 7th Army
  • Sickels Army Airfield - 11th ACR, 14th Cavalry
  • ARMY - Dress Blue
  • Community - 11th ACR, 14th Cavalry
  • in preparation - US Army and reservists
  • in preparation - 14th Cavalry in Germany - 2nd World War until 1972

The aim of the museum's work is to maintain friendship and history, while also deepening connections. Topics also include portraying the tasks and training required, as well as daily life and friendship.

In the past, the museum also took part in the Fulda Museennacht. The museum offered various events on the subject of “30 Years since the Fall of the Wall”. The museum has now collected over 2,000 parts, which can be attributed to numerous people and helpers. The museum is also a member of the Hessian Museum Association, which is why it is recognized as a museum.
